The bears do not come with the auction. They stay here! This fine historic sir knights silver templar sword features a rarer selection of scabbard casings. The eagle which sits perched atop the middle mount is particularly attractvie to say the least. The sword is in very good vintage condition with some minimal expected wear here and there. There are some relatively minor oxidation and light corrossion marks here and there and some chipping to enamel. Nothing serious. The sword shines bright like a mirror. The grip is made of a material that simulates the appearence and feel of a tusk. Still, it is genuinely hand-engraved with scrimshaw style designs. The sword is a most solid antique.
It is beautifully crafted. An artistic masonic statement taken from the pages of medieval history. This circa 1890's knight templars sword was made by the m. C. Lilley & co, one of the most quality consistent of all the historic american makers of military and fraternal swords. They rank high alongside the ames sword company, the pettibone bros and william horstmann of philadelphia. Decorative, detailed silver castings and mounts adorn this entire sword. Even the original leather washer is present the sword glows nicely.
The blade is completely decorated with great symbolic etchings and engravings (a combined technique) in the rococo style. And enhanced by gold! The makers mrak appears there for all the world to see. sA is the name of the original owner. A well crafted masoinc chivalric york rite sword. In its scabbard, the sword measures around 38 ¼ inches. Alone, the sword si about 37 inches. The blade is approximately 30 inches. A monumental historic masonic memento. A classical antique sword! Do not perimt it escape you.
